A BRADFORD man has been ordered to pay more than £600 after he was caught dodging a rail fare.
Szabolcs Kaszoni, 33, of Bradford Road, Shipley made a journey from Sheffield to Leeds on July 18, 2022, without purchasing a ticket.
During the journey, he was asked to produce a ticket. He was unable to do so and was issued an unpaid fares notice, so he could pay the rail fare within 21 days.
Court documents state: "Full instructions of where to send payment or to dispute liability are clearly printed on the notice.
"However, the defendant failed to make payment within the prescribed time period, subsequently a reminder letter was sent to him requesting payment, as no payment was received a final reminder letter was then sent to the defendant.
"Again he has failed to communicate or to acknowledge this reasonable request, as a result of which the fare remains unpaid."
The case was proved in his absence at Doncaster Justice Centre North on March 16.
Kaszoni was fined £330, costs of £150, a surcharge of £132 and compensation of £12.60.
The total of £624.60 must be paid by April 13 this year, court documents state.
