ramadan is very sacred to muslims as this is the month the quraan was evealed to prophet mohammed (PBUH). Ramadan allows muslim to have self discipline and remember those who are less fortunate. Muslims fast during this month to commemerate the relevation of the quraan.

Ramadan is celebrated with the celebration of eid-ul-fitr. The celebrate the strength allah has gave them to fast and also to celebrate the end of fasting.
Do muslims have to fast?
Sawm (fasting) is the 5 pillars of islam therefore it is obligitory on all muslim however there are a few exemption. A person who has a medical illness does not need to fast nor does a pregnant women. However, afer the pregnant women has to nmake up for the fast she has missed.
