HOW many people were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights last night?
Chris Myers stayed up late to get this picture, taken from Barden Fell on the Bolton Abbey estate, near Skipton.
There were also reports of people in the Otley area and other parts of Wharfedale being able to see the Northern Lights.
An Otley resident also photographed the amazing light show over the town.
Brin Best, of Throstle Nest Close, captured the Northern Lights on camera from the upstairs windows of his home from 10.45pm on Thursday to 3am this morning.
The lights included a green glow on the horizon at 10.45pm, with the display getting even better as time went on.
Brin Best said: "I was hoping to see a display last night because I follow a Lancaster University site that gives alerts and the conditions last night were very favourable - a rare red alert had been issued for the whole of the UK.
"The key thing is you need to combine a red alert with clear skies (and night-time of course!), so everything came together finally last night.
"I'd never photographed such an amazing display before (only brief glimpses) and never thought it was possible to see one like that in Yorkshire. Higher latitudes, like northern Scotland and Iceland, are where you'd expect to see such a strong display.
"All very extraordinary. So I was really delighted and it was a great night for Otley!"
