A BRADFORD playground has received a £200,000 revamp as part of a council project.

The playground at St Ives Estate in the Bingley area is now officially open after months of work.

The play area has been renovated with natural materials and the play equipment has been updated, to make it more accessible for children of all ages.

Pam Laking, of Friends of St Ives Estate, said: “The play area is absolutely fabulous, it took about three months to complete.

“The council spent £200,000 on the playground, they’ve refurbished all the existing equipment and bought new play equipment.

“The play area now has an area for younger children, aged for up to five and six year olds which is good, because before it was a bit difficult, younger children would get fed up because there wasn’t much for them to do.

“The musical squares are working again, which is great.”

The park brings in people from across Bradford and its neighbouring areas as Pam described it as the ‘best one in Bradford’.

“It’s really spectacular and people have already said how much they love it.

“I’ve never seen the carpark so full on a Wednesday.

“Hopefully it will be a success and lots of people will come and enjoy it."
