A 60-room extension of a student flats building has been approved by Bradford Council.

A planning application by Elavace Estates Number 2 Ltd to build an extra three floors on top of Charles Morris Hall on Laisteridge Lane was first proposed last year.

The application said the work would “transform” the current two storey building to create a building that would “cater to the current and future needs” of students.

It added: “This will be a positive addition to the University of Bradford Campus.”

All the rooms would be en suite, and there would be shared facilities such as kitchens.

Charles Morris Hall currently has 46 student flats.

Approving the scheme, planning officers said: “The site is comprised of an existing student accommodation building located within the University of Bradford Campus.

“The provision of further student accommodation in this location is considered to be compatible with the existing use of the site and the surrounding land uses which form the Campus.”
