Snowplough crews have been battling through the night to keep the M62 open amid heavy snow and drifting.
The key transpennine motorway was closed for around an hour from 2.30am, but reopened at about 3.30am. Some motorists reported that they were stuck for as long as five hours as queues stretched back eight miles.
As of 5am, two lanes of the westbound carriageway remained closed between junctions 24 and 22.
There are also long delays eastbound approaching junction 22 as work to clear the motorway continues.
Several roads in other parts of the Bradford district are impassable, including a number in the Wilsden, Denholme and Haworth areas.
A traffic update said: "Two lanes closed due to snow on M62 Westbound from J24 A629 (Ainley Top) to J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor). The motorway re-opened at around 03:30 after being shut for over an hour, but it's down to one lane. Further ahead, there are lane closures after J22, and long delays Eastbound approaching J22 as snowploughs try to clear the carriageway."
