SHOPPERS in Bradford were given a surprise when a flash mob was held to mark International Women’s Day.
Yorkshire Dance’s Dance On programme for over-55s held a flash mob performance in The Broadway in Bradford for the special event today (Wednesday, March 8).
Shoppers and the general public took part, dancing with the Dance On group in two five-minute performances.
The group danced to hits including Aretha Franklin’s 1980s classic ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves’ as they performed outside the HMV store at the shopping centre.
Dance On participants from across Bradford and Leeds had been rehearsing a short routine in their weekly classes.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who celebrated #InternationalWomensDay with us in @TheBroadwayBrad today!

The #DanceOn participants had lots of fun rehearsing the routine during their weekly classes and it was admirable to see their hard work shine through in the performances 👏💜 pic.twitter.com/Zx6v9EjNgY
The event celebrated the wide range of dance abilities and aimed to prove that people are never too old or inexperienced to try something new.
It is the fourth time that the performance has been held inside The Broadway.
Hannah Treharne, from Yorkshire Dance, says all of the participants had fun performing at the shopping centre to mark the special day.
She said: “The Dance On participants have had a lot of fun rehearsing the routine during their weekly classes and it was so admirable to see their hard work and love of dancing shine through in the performances.”
