A FATHER has spoken of his shock after taking a phone call from his young daughter saying their family home was on fire.
Mechanic Mike Maciej was at his workplace in Keighley when he heard the terrible news.
It was his eight-year-old daughter that told him about the blaze at the Ravenscliffe house following an electrical fault.
Mr Maciej said: "I was at work on Saturday when I took a call from my daughter who said the house is burning.
"When I came back I saw the fire brigade outside the house."
Fire engines and aerial support lined up along Falkland Road on Saturday afternoon to attend to the blaze.
Smoke was gushing out of the windows at both sides of the semi-detached property.
Four stations - Bradford, Shipley, Leeds and Stanningley - were sent to the scene at 1pm and the fire was out half an hour later.
Luckily, those in the house - Mike's wife Monika, 16-year-old son, 19-year-old daughter and her boyfriend - were not injured.
The family are now awaiting confirmation on their next move after being put up at a hotel.
A fundraiser has been set up for the family by one of Mike's mates.
So far, £100 has been raised on the gofundme page and the target is £500.
Elliott Stone said: "I am fundraising money for one of my friends who has just lost everything to a house fire.
"Anything that can be gifted or donated would be a huge help to them."
One of Mike's workmates Richie Henry added: "He is a very good guy I work with and has lost a lot.
"Mike and his family did not deserve such poor fortune."
Mr Maciej is thankful to those who have helped his family by giving them food and clothes.
He added: "I am really thankful to everyone who has helped us.
"We have received food, drink and clothes. People have also been collecting money for us."
On the day, a spokesperson from West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "It was a semi-detached property and the fire was confined to the upstairs.
"The call was at 1.02pm. The exposure risk was to one side.
"There were no casualties and the fire was out at 1.30pm.
"We sent both of Bradford's pumps, Shipley, an aerial from Leeds and Stanningley provided aerial support."
