A LONG-STANDING company has revealed its staff were evacuated following an early-hours fire in their mill.
Crews from Cleckheaton and Rastrick were part of the team extinguishing the blaze at Ulster Yarns on Huddersfield Road in Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury.
Six breathing apparatus and three hose reels were used at the scene after the alarm was raised just before 5am.
Ulster Yarns has been producing premium woollen yarn in West Yorkshire since the industrial revolution.
The textiles business says no one was hurt during the incident and operations are now returning to normal.
A spokesperson for Ulster Yarns said: “Our fire safety systems worked effectively to extinguish the fire and operations are now returning to normal.
"All staff were safely evacuated from the building and no one was hurt during the incident.
"We would like to thank the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and all emergency services for their swift response.”
Dewsbury, Mirfield, Ossett, and Huddersfield were the other stations in attendance.
A spokesperson from the fire service said: "Report of building on fire, on arrival this was made pumps 6.
"This is a mill building 100m x 50m, fire in the warehouse.
"Six breathing apparatus and three hose reels were in use."
