A BRADFORD shop owner avoided a driving ban because he travels to Manchester to get his stock cheaper.
Kamran Akhtar, of Durham Road in Girlington, was in line for a totting disqualification before the court heard his mitigating circumstances.
In court, the 34-year-old admitted to using his mobile phone while driving a Seat Leon on Great Horton Road on February 8 of last year.
Documents say Akhtar owns a newly-opened shop which sells vapes and American sweets.
He travels to Manchester three times a week because stock is cheaper in the city.
Court documents also state the application was granted based on the fact his family and brother rely on him heavily.
Akhtar was fined £173, and had to pay court costs of £110 and a £34 victim surcharge.
He also had his driving licence endorsed with six points.
His case was heard at Bradford And Keighley Magistrates' Court on Friday, February 24.
