GRUESOME details of how a 20-year-old Bradford woman met a “traumatic death” with a metal spike embedded in her back, have emerged during the second day of a murder trial.
The prosecution outlined how Somaiya Begum’s body was dumped and left to rot on wasteland in the city.
Her uncle Mohammed Taroos Khan, 52, of Thornbury Road, Bradford, is currently on trial, accused of murdering his niece, on or around June 25 last year – he denies the charge.
Prosecutor Jason Pitter KC told the jury in the first full day of the trial at Bradford Crown Court that Miss Begum “met a traumatic death following a violent episode” which saw a metal spike being embedded in her back.
He added that her body was then bundled up, dumped, left to rot and decompose on wasteland, so she was not recognisable.
Mr Pitter added that she was probably killed on June 25 last year – the date she disappeared.
Miss Begum, of Binnie Street, Barkerend, was reported missing the following day and detectives discovered her body at Fitzwilliam Street at 7.35pm on July 6 – a week and a half later.
The trial, which is expected to last three and a half weeks, continues.
