BRADFORD Road in Oakenshaw will continue to remain closed until the end of the week as major 'emergency work' is carried out.
Yorkshire Water has confirmed the works, which were set to be completed on February 28, 2022, should now be done by March 4, 2022.
Work to repair a leak from a big water pipe between Chain Bar and Odsal Top Roundabouts has caused chaos for the people of Oakenshaw, who are currently battling separate roadworks.
The village is currently undergoing a big development with separate roadworks and diversions in place.
Yorkshire Water has thanked people for their patience as it carried out the repairs.
Councillor Andrew Pinnock, for Cleckheaton, said:" It's a nuisance, particularly with what's going on in Oakenshaw.
"If you close Bradford Road, you end up with HGVs and lorries going up unsuitable roads which I gather has been happening.
"That's one of the by-products of this burst water pipe.
"It's unfortunate it's happening at the same time as all these things.
"People in Oakenshaw are getting a bit annoyed."
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water said: "A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “There was a leak on one of our big water pipes between Chain Bar and Odsal Top roundabouts, so we’ve been carrying out emergency work to fix it.
"We’d like to thank everyone for their patience whilst we carry out the work. In order to ensure our teams can work safely, we’ve had to close the road and put a signposted diversion in place.
"The work should be complete soon and we hope to reopen the road by the end of the week.”
