A SENIOR firefighter has called the Bradford Odeon blaze "quite a challenging incident".
Fire crews were called to the scene in Bradford city centre at around 10.40am.
Smoke could be seen coming from one of the building's domes.
The fire is now out and nobody is hurt.
Watch commander Simon Moore told the Telegraph & Argus the fire is believed to have been caused by workmen doing hot work.
"We have had a fire up on the big dome," he said.
"Fire services from all over Bradford and Cleckheaton were here.
"It's in the dome area of the roof, four stories up and can only be accessed from the outside.
"It's been quite a challenging incident.
"We're happy with the outcome at the moment."
Naz Shah, Bradford West MP, whose constituency covers the city centre, added: "I have spoken with the Bradford District Commander of the Fire Service who has assured me the fire is being contained and they continue to ask people to stay away from the vicinity.
"I would like to thank the emergency services for all their efforts in dealing with this incident."
