A TEENAGER has been jailed and banned after being caught driving dangerously on the district’s streets.
Muhammed Shazaib Majid, 19, was caught driving a Hyundai dangerously on Spring Gardens Lane in Keighley.
The offence took place on October 8, 2021.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of driving a motor vehicle dangerously and chose a trial at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court.
Majid, of Bradford Street, Keighley, was found guilty in his absence at a hearing on February 8, 2023.
On February 15, he was jailed for 26 weeks in total and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 30 months.
Court documents show magistrates found the offence to be so serious because the defendant has a flagrant disregard for people and their property.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to court bail for the trial on February 8.
