THE owner of an unused stable block in Sutton-in-Craven, near Keighley, has got the go-ahead to turn it into a home.
Stephen Adams can turn the stables in Ellers Road into a two-bedroom home after getting planning permission from Craven District Council.
The conversion will result in no demolition to the stables, but will include the installation of internal walls as well as the glazing of existing openings to form windows and doors.
There will also be some new fencing to establish the domestic curtilage.
Sutton Parish Council raised concerns about it being a new residential development in open countryside and it having a difficult access. Two members of the public responded, one who was neutral, and the other in objection.
In a planning officer's report, it is stated: "The building is generally in a good state of repair attributed mainly through its limited age and would require minimal, if any, structural intervention.
In concluding that the proposed development was acceptable, it said: "While there is no formal requirement in either the Local Plan or the National Planning Policy Framework (NPFF) to prove that the building is redundant, in this instance it is considered that while the building is still fit for purpose, it is not required for that purpose."
