A CLEAN-UP operation is underway after scenes for a star-studded Netflix movie were filmed on Bradford city centre streets.
Six Triple Eight, a drama starring Kerry Washington, is set during the height of the Second World War, and was filmed in Bradford’s Little Germany yesterday (Thursday, February 16). The film follows the story of the Second World War’s only all-black, all-female unit.
Miss Washington was in Little Germany to film scenes during the morning session, dressed in uniform. Dean Norris, who played DEA agent Hank Schrader in popular US TV series Breaking Bad, was also spotted filming scenes in Little Germany.
Crews have been on the streets of Little Germany today (Friday, February 17) dismantling the impressive sets which turned the historic Bradford area into 1940s Birmingham.
The wooden structures used for the set were spotted being broken down.
The sandbags, piled up around the streets for the filming, were also seen being taken down. The roads themselves, which were covered over to create an authentic Second World War feel, have also been restored back to their modern-day look.
Tyler Perry, the film’s writer and director, was also seen on set in Bradford. No release date for the film has been announced.
Mr Perry tweeted a picture of himself alongside the cast in a break from filming in Bradford.
To honor the long ignored worth of the 6888 has been the greatest privilege of my career thus far.

The streaming service posted: “A sneak peek behind the scenes of Tyler Perry’s Six Triple Eight! Kerry Washington & Ebony Obsidian lead an all-star cast in telling the inspiring true story of the incredible and brave women of the only all-black, all-female World War 2 battalion.”
One of the main scenes filmed in Bradford saw dozens of military-uniform-clad women marching down Burnett Street in Little Germany, led by one of them holding the USA flag.
This scene was rehearsed and filmed on a number of occasions throughout the morning.
The film spotlights the 6888th unit. It was made up of 855 women who contributed to the war effort by sorting through a three-year backlog of undelivered mail and delivering the post to American soldiers serving during the conflict.
The group of women helped to deliver 17 million pieces of mail to troops during the war, which began in 1939 and ended in 1945.
