A BRADFORD nursery where children’s ‘behaviour is remarkable’ has been awarded Outstanding by Ofsted.
Little Advocates Montessori Nursery, on Leylands Lane in the Heaton ward of Bradford, has moved from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’ in its most recent inspection on January 10, 2023.
The nursery was described as an inclusive and inviting setting where ‘children thrive’ and make ‘wonderful friendships with each other’.
The education watchdog noted children in this setting have good social skills and are keen to help each other, taking on caring roles for their peers.
The report said: “Children show deep engagement in their play and create their own imaginary games. For instance, they wrap each other up in blankets, offering soft toys and comforters, and pretend to go to sleep.
“Children take on roles of parents and care for their 'children'. Children ask each other if they are okay and if they would like anything to eat. They demonstrate superb social skills.
“Children's behaviour is remarkable. They take pride in their work and their achievements. Children quickly learn the routine of the setting and understand the rules.”
The report commended the setting for the excellent literacy skills shown by the children who ‘recognise letters and make marks in flour’.
Inspectors felt that children in this setting are ‘exceptionally well prepared’ for their next steps in learning and school all because of the hard work of the staff and manager of the nursery.
It said: “The manager is highly ambitious and driven.
“She has worked exceptionally hard and has a clear vision of what it is that she wants children to learn. This is shown through the highly ambitious curriculum in place.
“The manager skilfully works alongside her dedicated staff team to offer exceptional levels of coaching, support and mentoring.
“This helps her to shape and model excellent practice. In addition, there are regular supervision sessions in place. The manager places a strong emphasis on promoting staff well-being and gathers staff views when evaluating her outstanding practice.”
Caroline Hullah, Manager at Little Advocates Montessori Nursery, said: “We are delighted to have received our first outstanding rating from Ofsted. This is a testament to our passionate and hard-working team who ensure the children are set up for their next stages of life.”
