A 33-YEAR-old man has appeared in court charged with trying to steal an iPhone 13 from Currys in Bradford and assaulting four men at the store.
Shahbaz Hussain, of Sunbridge Road, Bradford, initially pleaded not guilty to the assault charges relating to the incident at Forster Square Retail Park, Valley Road, on September 7, 2022.
But during his latest appearance before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court, Hussain changed his pleas to guilty.
He admitted four counts of assault by beating on four different men and going equipped for theft by carrying pliers.
He had earlier admitted attempted theft from a shop, by trying to steal an iPhone 13 valued at £729, and criminal damage, causing £20 of damage to the cradle the mobile was secured to.
At the hearing on February 8, magistrates jailed Hussain for ten weeks as the offences were aggravated by the defendant’s record of previous offending.
