A MAN killed in a car crash in Bradford died of a neck injury, the opening of his inquest confirmed.

Nik Biddle, 37, who was from Kirklees, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, on Bradford Road in Birstall, which happened in the early hours of Friday, February 3.

Officers were called to the scene at 12.06am after a black Volkswagen Golf collided with a stone wall at the junction of Musgrave Street.

Four males travelling in the vehicle were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries.

The driver, a 25-year-old, was arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

The inquest into Mr Biddle’s death was opened and adjourned at Bradford Coroner’s Court today (Monday) by senior coroner Martin Fleming.

Mr Biddle’s cause of death was confirmed as a neck injury sustained in a road traffic collision. He was the front passenger in the black Volkswagen Golf at the time of the crash, the inquest heard.

Mr Fleming said at the brief hearing that Mr Biddle’s inquest file is scheduled to be in for mention at Bradford Coroner’s Court on April 27. A conclusion date for Mr Biddle’s inquest has been fixed for May 17, 2023. The inquest was adjourned by Mr Fleming while police inquiries continue to take place.

Mr Biddle was unemployed at the time of the crash due to ill health and was born in Dewsbury, the inquest hearing was also told.

Meanwhile, an online donation page has been set up following Mr Biddle’s death.

The GoFundMe page, titled ‘In Loving Memory of Nik Biddle’, has been set up to raise money for his family.

Mr Biddle’s family also released an emotional statement following his death.

It read: “He loved life, he loved his kids, his family, and his friends. He never wasted a day.

“He smashed everything he put his mind to, he had a beautiful soul and was such a gentle giant."
