Police have issued a statement following an assault in Bradford city centre at the weekend. 

West Yorkshire Police was called to reports of an injured male, who had been assaulted on Ivegate at 9.06pm on Saturday, February 11. 

The force was asked to attend the incident by Yorkshire Ambulance Service. 

Two men, aged 33 and 36, were arrested in connection with the serious incident. 

The 33 year old has been released with no further action and the 36 year old has been bailed pending further enquires. 

A police cordon was in place throughout Saturday evening and Sunday.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said: "At 21.06 on Saturday 11 February police were called by the ambulance service to reports of an injured male, who had been assaulted on Ivegate, Bradford. 

"The injured male was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"Two males aged 33 and 36 were arrested in connection with the incident. The 33 year old has been released with no further action and the 36 year old has been bailed pending further enquires. 

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident."
