WITH an online survey saying Bradford is in the top 10 worst places to live in England once again, we decided to give you five reasons why this is just not the case.

The city was ranked 10th in a new 2023 survey by the satirical website ILiveHere, where a total of 105,598 votes were cast.

The ranking is exactly the same as in 2022 but still much better than the year before when Bradford placed fourth.

The explanation behind this year's placing said: "The land of dreams, if you dream of takeaways and pound shops."

We think this is a load of nonsense and would like to highlight how great Bradford really is.

UK City of Culture

Bradford will become the UK City of Culture in 2025.

Last June, the city was successful with its bid, which is set to bring an estimated extra £700 million, into the district, creating 3,000 jobs and attracting around 1.1 million visitors.

The campaign highlighted how Bradford is the youngest city in the country, with 26 per cent of residents under the age of 18.

Sporting history

Despite neither City nor Bulls currently being at the peak of their powers, the clubs are recognised globally.

Bradford City are FA Cup winners and have been a constant fixture in the English Football League since its inception.

In more modern times, the Bantams have had a spell in the Premier League and reached a domestic cup final only a decade ago.

Bradford Bulls are still one of English rugby league's most successful clubs.

There was a spell in the early noughties where the Odsal-based club could say they were the top dogs in the world.

Bradford is rich in culture with tons of places for residents and visitors to see.

The opening of a new venue is also not too far away now as the former Odeon building is converted into the 4,000-capacity Bradford Live.

If historic buildings are more your bag there is East Riddlesden Hall and Salts Mill.

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is superb if you want to see fantastic scenery like the beautiful Brontë country.
