TRAFFIC calming measures will be built on a busy Manningham street after being approved by councillors.
The Bradford West Area Committee last month approved a £40,000 scheme to install speed bumps on Lumb Lane.
The work will include existing traffic calming extended from Green Lane to Westgate, with a number of speed plateaus and speed cushions installed on the road.
Questions over funding for traffic calming measures in Bradford West
The approval was despite two objections to the scheme, that claimed speed bumps were a “waste of money” and would do little to stop speeding drivers.
In response to these objections, highways officers said: “Physical traffic calming measures are proven to be one of the most successful means of lowering vehicle speeds and delivering significant road safety benefits.
“The scheme is being progressed on the grounds that a recent study has shown that there have been 13 collisions resulting in injury on this section of Lumb Lane in the past five years.”
