SHOCKING footage has been released showing the moment stacks of Amazon parcels were stolen from a delivery van parked in a Bradford village.

West Yorkshire Police is appealing for information after the incident on Brownroyd Hill Road, Wibsey, at 12.46pm on Tuesday.

Amazon has confirmed that it was one of its delivery vehicles which was targeted by thieves.

The suspects escaped with stacks of parcels and reportedly ran towards Briarwood Close. 

A resident claimed they got into a taxi on Carrbottom Road and filled the boot with the stolen goods.

Councillor Ralph Berry (Lab, Wibsey) said: “It really needs to be investigated by the police.

“It’s a big problem for courier services.

“It’s not just happened there, I’m aware of it happening in other places.

“It’s a worrying criminal model of operation, that preys on the way we are buying things these days.

“It’s important to get this sorted and stamped out.”

CCTV footage captures the driver parking outside an address on Brownroyd Hill Road. While he’s getting out of the van, a group of boys target the vehicle, sliding the door open and stealing stacks of parcels and running off.

Councillor Sabiya Khan (Lab, Wibsey) said: “Obviously as ward councillors, we are concerned about such incidents taking place in the ward.

“We wish to reassure our residents that we are working with our police colleagues to make sure our ward is safe and secure.

“We encourage residents to report crimes In the area and that’s the crux of our work with the police.

“It’s a very shocking and frightening incident and my sympathies are with the driver who was faced with that.

“I hope he receives the support he needs after this shocking event.”

Anyone experiencing delays with their Amazon parcel is asked to contact the Amazon customer service department which will attempt to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At about 12.46pm today (Tuesday), police received a report of theft from a vehicle in Brownroyd Hill Road, Wibsey.

"The suspects were reported to have ran off towards Briarwood Crescent."
