CONVERTING a section of a district mill into a gym could prove a “catalyst” for more investment in the site – planning officers have claimed.
An application to convert the third floor of Cullingworth Mill into a gym has been approved by Bradford Council this week.
Although the mill is home to businesses like an antique centre and café, the third floor has remained vacant for decades.

Applicant Rhys Bokalo said the work would create a “local gym for local people,” and that there was a high demand for gyms in the area.
Planning officers have now approved the development.
They said: “Bringing the upper storey into a productive use for leisure would help with the upkeep of the building and may provide a catalyst for the introduction of other uses which would re-purpose the whole mill site.
“The new use would support employment and help the long term future of the mill.”
The proposed opening hours for the gym are 6:30am to 10pm.
