A BRADFORD restaurant boss says he may look into extending a second site after being overwhelmed by the response during its opening few weeks.

International opened its second restaurant on Sticker Lane in December last year after taking over the site from the Three Singhs.

The new site includes space for up to 300 diners over two floors, a 150-space car park, a large bar and waiting area at the front.

It features a slick black and gold colouring throughout and diners will be asked to bring their own alcohol to the site. The new site has also created 30 jobs.

Safeer Khan, International manager, says he is overwhelmed by how busy the site has been and customer feedback.

He said: “It’s definitely going to be the biggest year since we opened in 1976. If we carry on like this, it’s going to be unbelievable.

“It’s been extremely busy, the response has been amazing. The response we have had has been more than we expected.

“People have been refused on weekdays because we have been so busy. It’s a good thing and a bad thing. Every day has been amazing.

“I’d like to thank everybody who has been so supportive to us. Everybody who has come here has said that they have been amazed by the place. Everybody loves the place.

“It’s here (at Sticker Lane) that we’re competing with other restaurants. When we opened this, we went into a different market.

“We’re thinking of applying to extend to build a space for up to 100 seats. That would be the next stage, but we will have to see how it goes.

“The second restaurant has not affected the other business, 10 per cent of customers have come over to the new restaurant at most.”

Mr Khan added despite business booming in the early weeks at Sticker Lane, International would continue to run its existing 110-seat restaurant on Mannville Terrace, Morley Street.

International was first established as a family-run eatery in 1976, when Indian cuisine was a new feature to the British Isles. It reopened on Morley Street after a refurbishment in 2019.

It won the best dish and shared the lifetime achievement prize at the Bradford Curry Awards in July this year.

The International on Sticker Lane will be open every Sunday to Thursday between 4.30pm and 11pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 4.30pm to midnight.
