PEOPLE have spoken of their shock and sadness following a fatal crash on one of Bradford’s busiest roads.
Officers were called at 11.45pm on Wednesday (February 1) to reports a car and motorbike had been involved in a crash on Leeds Road, at the junction of Albert Place.
The rider of the motorbike, a 32-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 28-year-old man, the driver of the Honda Jazz, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody at this time.
There has been a huge police presence on the road while investigations are carried out.
One person said: “I live just over the road - I heard a loud noise, it was quite late at night, people were looking out of their windows and coming out onto the street.
“It’s really sad that someone’s died. It’s happening a lot in Bradford, there are too many deaths on the road. Something needs to change.”
Another resident spoke of their shock and added: “It’s not nice for it to happen so close.
“There were cordons everywhere, people at first thought something minor had happened, but it’s obvious that it’s bigger than that.
“You can’t even get out of the street because of the cordons. It’s scary, to be honest. It’s horrible that someone’s died, I hope they’re in a better place.”
A business owner in the area, who did not wish to be named, added: “It’s normally a very busy area, but it feels like a ghost town at the moment because the road has been closed and no one’s allowed through.
“I wasn’t here when the incident happened, but I heard about it. I give my condolences to the person who died and their family.”
