A COUNCILLOR has expressed his condolences over the tragic death of a man in a crash involving a car and a motorbike on a major Bradford road.

The rider of a motorbike, a 32-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash involving a car on Leeds Road at the junction of Albert Place at 11.45pm yesterday.

The driver of the Honda Jazz car, a man aged 28, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is still in police custody.

Cllr Riaz Ahmed (Lib Dem, Bradford Moor) says the death of the motorcyclist is tragic and urged any witnesses to come forward with any further details to help police with their inquiries.

He said: “It’s very tragic. This is another accident that has happened.

“It’s a very busy road. One death is far too many.

“My condolences go to the family of the person who passed away.

“I don’t know the full circumstances of what happened. There is nothing clear at the moment.

“I have a business on Leeds Road and we witness accidents on here on many occasions.”

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash cam footage to come forward. Information can be given via 101 or the Live Chat facility at westyorkshire.police.uk/contactus quoting log 1874 of February 1.
