A BRADFORD MP has condemned a bombing at a mosque in Pakistan which has so far claimed the lives of over 100 people.
Imran Hussain, Labour MP for Bradford East, described the attack - which took place in the city of Peshawar - as horrific.
More than 200 people are reported to have been injured in the incident, which is believed to have been targeted against police officers who were praying at the mosque – which is located within the heavily-controlled police headquarters area.
The attack happened at 1.30pm Pakistan Standard Time on Monday.
“This abhorrent terrorist attack on a place of worship in the Pakistani city of Peshawar is wholly reprehensible and nothing short of horrific, with over 100 people having now sadly lost their lives,” said Mr Hussain, who himself is of Pakistani descent
“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and with the people of Pakistan throughout this period of national mourning.”
Labour MP for Bradford West, Naz Shah, who is also of Pakistani heritage, earlier said that the attack was “extremely tragic”.
Ms Shah added: “My thoughts and prayers are with all those that have lost their loved ones in this horrific attack.”
