A 26-YEAR-old Bradford man has been jailed for more than ten months.

Bradley Saunders, of Great Horton Road, Bradford, appeared before magistrates having been found guilty of assault by beating.

The incident that led to the charge took place on May 25, 2022, on Vicar Lane in the city.

Saunders pleaded not guilty, but was found guilty at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court, on January 17, 2023.

A week later, on January 23, he was sentenced to 44 weeks imprisonment in total.

This included activating a suspended sentence which was imposed in December 2021 for seven charges of theft from a shop in October and November 2021, as well as two assaults, a single charge of disclosing private sexual photos without consent, failing to surrender and failing to provide a sample for a drug test.

The suspended sentence was for 28 weeks in total and the latest offence of assault added another 16-week jail term on top of that.

In sentencing, magistrates said they found that the offence was so serious because of Saunders’ previous record of offending, and because the latest offence was committed while he was subject to a suspended sentence.
