A FORMER police station used in the popular BBC show Happy Valley has been put on the market by a Bradford property company.

In 2019, the building, on Station Road in Sowerby Bridge, was granted full planning permission to be converted into 19 self-contained studio apartments as well as a caretaker's flat

The apartments also benefit from having two large communal kitchen-diners, onsite laundry facilities and outside storage space.

They have been refurbished to a high specification and are offered part-furnished with utility bills included.

Marcus Swift, director of The Lettings Club, highlighted Sowerby Bridge's links to three major cities and expects demand to be high.

He said: "We are extremely excited to have been instructed as the managing agent for this historical building.

"With its excellent rail and road links, Sowerby Bridge is a town that working professionals and students are increasingly looking to relocate to.

"This development offers high-quality affordable accommodation within commutable distance to three major cities, Manchester, Leeds and Bradford - all of which have been struggling with rental stock over the last 12 months.

"The first four units were launched to market in January and have now all been rented with the next phase of units to follow shortly, we expect the demand will remain high."

The Station Road location appeared as the police station in the first two series.

However, given the building's renovations, the old Halifax swimming pool on Skircoat Road replaced its role in early 2022 for season three.

Parts of Sally Wainwright’s gritty police drama, which hit screens in 2014, have also been filmed in Bradford.

Scenes for the latest series were shot in Thornton village.

In April, residents gathered on Market Street after receiving a notice through their doors.

Signs at Thornton Dental Care were replaced for filming purposes while Siobhan Finneran was spotted with Wainwright and another crew member.

Fans watched scenes unfold as Siobhan got into character and made a phone call while cameras rolled.

Meanwhile, Baildon was used to shoot some scenes of the first series of Happy Valley.
