TWO women have admitted animal cruelty charges in relation to two dogs by failing to seek veterinary care for their pets.

Ann Warmisham, 71, and Hayley Warmisham, 41, both of the same address at Whinney Hill Park in Brighouse, are set to be sentenced for the charges on February 7 at Kirklees Magistrates' Court.

Both pleaded guilty to not taking reasonable steps to ensure the needs of an animal were met between a six-month period to May 2022, in relation to a female tan mastiff-type dog called Dobby and a male Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog called Mickey Blue.

This is related to failing to ensure the welfare of an animal by not providing proper veterinary care and attention or cystitis and conjunctivitis.

Hayley Warmisham also admitted causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, the same Mastiff, over the same period, by failing to provide proper veterinary care for the animal’s chronic cystitis.

All three charges relate to a period between November 28, 2021, and May 17, 2022, and it is the RSPCA behind the prosecution.

The latest hearing took place on January 23 before Kirklees magistrates and the case has now been adjourned for the sentencing hearing, which both defendants must attend.
