THESE dramatic pictures of a mill fire in Park Road, Bingley on November 17, 1983, were taken by T&A reader and former fire service control room worker Ray Banyard. The building was used as a tannery at the time.
Many appliances attended the scene, from stations Bingley, Shipley, Keighley, Bradford, Idle, Fairweather Green and Illingworth as well as from retained stations at Silsden, Haworth and Ilkley. Fire service headquarters in Birkenshaw sent a breathing apparatus tender. Almost 100 firefighters fought the blaze.
