How will you deal with the rising cost of energy in 2023?

By taking a few small steps that can really make a difference high energy price can be decreased. Here are some suggestions for reducing your spending and the amount of energy you consume.

Do not overfill the kettle: Just as much water as you need for a cup of tea or coffee should be put in the kettle as boiling water uses a lot of energy. You will save £6 a year because of this, which will lower your energy bill.

Turn off appliances when they are not in use: You may save £80 a year by turning off the light when you leave the room and the TV when no one is watching it.

Closing the curtains/ blinds at night: In the winter closing blinds can also help you conserve energy. Heat is lost through windows on freezing winter nights. When the blinds are drawn the windows get some insulation which lessens heat loss during cold weather. Drawing the curtains and blinds stop warm air from escaping through windows and save money on heating

Use your microwave instead of your oven when possible: Using a microwave instead of an oven saves you time and energy because it cooks food more quickly.

Use a smart meter: This will help you track your usage and keep an eye on how much you are spending whilst identifying habits that are causing you to pay more.
