FORMER Bradford (Park Avenue) winger Archie McHard has died at the age of 88.
His most memorable achievement for Avenue came on Boxing Day 1959, when he netted what was, at the time, the fastest goal in the club's history.
He scored after a mere 12 seconds in a home game against Southport, setting Avenue on their way to a comfortable 3-0 victory.
One of several Scottish players signed in the late 1950s by manager Walter Galbraith, McHard arrived at Avenue from Clyde FC in May 1959.
He made 25 appearances on the wing in his first season until losing his place to starlet Ian Gibson.
He was limited to just two first-team appearances the following season, when Bradford gained promotion to the Third Division and incoming boss Jimmy Scoular placed him of the transfer list in February 1961.
At the end of the campaign he was given a free transfer and returned to Scotland.
