A NEW adult education centre designed to help local residents improve their employment credentials has opened in Bradford.
The Skills Hub is based at The Holme Centre at Holme United Reformed Church on Madison Avenue in Holme Wood.
A range of courses will be delivered from the centre which has two classrooms and will be staffed throughout the week for people to call in for advice.
It has been funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s £64 million budget to help adults in some of the most disadvantaged areas of West Yorkshire access the training they need to get a job and further their career.
Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, said: “I’m delighted to support the new Skills Hub with funding from our adult education budget - made possible through devolution.”
The courses include English and maths functional skills, digital skills, hair, adult social care and a programme to attract new recruits for West Yorkshire Police’s contact centres.
Dan Goodall, of training provider Realise, said: “We want to support the people of Bradford and the surrounding areas to gain new skills which will help them either out of unemployment and into a job or out of low paid work and into sustainable, long-term employment.”
