A MAN is due in court charged with stealing £4,000 worth of metal from a disused Bradford sports centre.
Craig Brennan, 37, of Rudding Street, Huddersfield, faces one charge of burglary other than dwelling – theft.
He is accused of entering the Richard Dunn Sports Centre as a trespasser and stealing a quantity of metal, including handrails, to the value of £4,000.
The offence is alleged to have been committed on June 26, 2022.
Brennan pleaded not guilty to the offence at a previous hearing, held on October 31, 2022.
He was remanded on unconditional bail and will appear at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 26.
The Richard Dunn Sports Centre was built in 1974 and shut its doors in November 2019 – coinciding with the opening of the nearby £17.5m Sedbergh Leisure Centre complex.
The centre, named after the boxer Richard Dunn who faced Muhammad Ali in 1976, was given listed status by Historic England in 2022.
