A MAN who lost his parents during the first Covid-19 lockdown has started up a home care company to help older people and their families in the Bradford area.

Ilkley man Martin Waite's new home care company Home Instead will make it possible for older people in and around Bradford and West Leeds to retain their independence in their own homes yet receive the support crucial to their wellbeing.

After 30 successful years running estate agency businesses, Mr Waite decided to apply his entrepreneurial expertise in the care sector and to help local families find the right care for them.

Home Instead Bradford and West Leeds offers a variety of care options such as personal care, including help with dressing and bathing, as well as companionship care.

Mr Waite sadly lost both of his parents in the first Covid-19 lockdown. Due to lockdown restrictions, there was little he could do to help when his parents fell ill and both passed away very quickly.

He feels that his parents would have benefitted hugely from care.

It has made him passionate about offering families care if they are facing the same challenges he encountered to help them live longer and healthier lives together.

Martin said: “I know the feeling: your parents aren’t as fit and well and they used to be and you’re thinking about how you can help.

"We all live busy lives so there’s only so much that you can do, however much you love them.

"With home care, you can get a professional to keep them well and enjoy the pleasures that come from living in the home they love.

“The team of care professionals I have taken on are simply awe-inspiring.

"They have the compassion and commitment to make families feel reassured that their loved one is in safe hands.

“I’ve already seen friendships blossom between care professionals and clients; it’s so heartwarming to see older locals delighted to receive visits from people who genuinely care for them.”

Offering specialist dementia care, Home Instead Bradford and West Leeds is involved with a weekly Memory Café for people living with dementia and their families, giving them the chance to spend time together in an environment with like-minded people.

Mr Waite is looking for kind-hearted individuals who want to become a care professional.
