A BRADFORD fish and chip shop has been awarded a five-star hygiene rating for the second time since it opened.
Wibsey Fisheries was given five stars after an unannounced inspection earlier this week.
Owners Michael and Karen Oldfield have been running the chip shop on Fair Road, Wisbey, for the past four years and had their most recent inspection on January 18, 2023.

Michael said: “We’re elated.
“It’s good to know that when you put the hard work in, you get a pat on the back.
“We don’t finish frying on an evening until 7pm and we don’t leave until 8pm.
“It’s easy to say we’ll leave that for the morning, but we work really hard to keep our shop clean and tidy.”
The inspector conducted a thorough check of the shop, making sure it was up to standards.
He checked the frying area, the bathroom, and the general shop floor.
The inspector was impressed by the high quality and standards Michael had in his chip shop.
Michael added: “He told me it was superb and that he could tell right when he walked in it was going to be five stars.
“He said the paperwork was superb and the chip shop was immaculate.
“People sometimes lose a star because their paperwork isn’t up to scratch- but not us.
“We earned our pat on the back.”
The Fish & Chip shop celebrated its success on Facebook, telling its customers the great news.
Wibsey Fisheries posted on Facebook: “We have just had our second ever unannounced visit from environmental health today and again received a fantastic top score of 5!!!”
Customers congratulated the family business on its success and praised the quality of the food.
Michael said: “We’ve had a fantastic response on Facebook, the inspector told us to get it on there.
“So many of our customers gave us good feedback and said Well done.”
Michael works alongside his wife and son among other staff members.
“We just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all our customers, who keep on coming back and giving us good feedback.”
