A MAN will appear in court next month over the use of a site off Leeds Road for the storage and processing of tyres.

Michael George Hughes of Kingsdale Avenue, Menston, has been charged with failing to comply with an enforcement notice issued by Bradford Council in 2021.

The notice related to an area of land at 1394 Leeds Road, and ordered that the “unauthorised” use of the site to store, process and transfer tyres cease by October 2021.

The full charge that will be put to Hughes is being a “Person other than owner of land, carry on / cause / permit an activity in contravention of an enforcement notice.”

It continues: “After 02/11/2021 at 1394 Leeds Road, Bradford, BD3 7AE, you failed to comply with an enforcement notice served on 22nd June 2021, in that whilst operating a business - Licence Tyre Disposals ltd, failed to cease the unauthorised use of land for the storage, processing and transfer of waste tyres and fail to remove stored waste tyres by 29/10/21.”

The case is being brought by Bradford Council.

Hughes will appear at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on Thursday February 2 to answer the charge.
