THE council has taken action after a Bradford man fell twice on a slippery footpath in the space of six weeks.

Emiel De'Trovske has complained to Bradford Council after falling on the slippery footpath at the corner of Kings Road and Bolton Lane on Monday and in early December.

A frustrated Mr De'Trovske, who lives at nearby Kingsley Avenue, has lodged multiple complaints with the council.

The council said it was sorry to hear of the incidents and said the problems on the footpath will be dealt with.

Mr De'Trovske said: "After falling on the pavement at the corner, I struggled in pain to get home where I had to wait for an ambulance to take me to the hospital."

Mr De'Trovske, who uses a walking stick, said: "I was lucky to be able to get up to walk home.

"I injured my left arm and hand, bashed and bruised my ribs and hurt my left hip and left ankle.

"The path was wet and slimy with moss and ditritus.

"The moss and the leaves that fall from the trees get turned into a gunk that is a slipping hazard.

"It's difficult as a disabled person who uses a walking stick.

"I also fell down at the same spot in early December when I suffered bruising and grazing.

"The problem is nothing ever gets done about it.

"I've raised the issue with a number of council departments several times.

"I shouldn't have to be laid up in my living room to get something done about this public safety issue."

Mr De'Trovske also spoke about another issue affecting the footpaths at the corner of Kings Road and Bolton Lane.

"There are brambles growing out onto the path making it difficult for two people to pass, particularly if someone is using a pushchair."

Mr De'Trovske said the footpath is much wider but the overhanging brambles and leaves and moss cover a good section of the inner edge of the footpath.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “We are very sorry to hear Mr De’Trovske has slipped and injured himself and hope he gets well soon.

“Very cold conditions have made many pavements and pathways very slippery recently and we urge everyone to take care when walking on them.

“This mossy path was reported a few weeks ago and work has already been arranged to improve the path. This should take place shortly.

“Surrounding bushes will be cut back and we will sweep the pavement. Next week a tractor has been booked to cut the tops of the trees to reduce the regrowth of moss.”
