A MAN has appeared in court for thefts from Bradford stores and damaging one at a city shopping centre.
Tariq Ali, 37, c/o Clayton Road, Bradford, was handed a community order for two theft from a shop and one criminal damage to property charge.
In the first offence, he stole shirts, to the value of £360, from JD Sports at The Broadway, Bradford, on July 3, 2022. Ali was also ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs for the charge.
The second charge, criminal damage to property valued under £5,000, Ali, without lawful excuse, damaged a wall panel to an unknown value, at JD Sports, The Broadway, Bradford, intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed, or damaged. The offence took place on July 3, 2022.
Ali was also convicted for a second theft from a shop charge, for stealing three bottles of whisky, worth £114, from Morrisons, Victoria Shopping Centre, Thornton Road, Bradford, on September 4, 2022.
The community order handed to Ali was imposed as a direct alternative to custody. The community order includes a drug rehabilitation requirement.
Ali pleaded guilty to the charges he faced and was sentenced at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on January 17, 2023.
