PLANS to demolish a church and build housing in its place have been withdrawn – almost three and a half years after being submitted.
The Church of Christ the King, between Bradford Road and the Leeds Liverpool Canal in Crossflatts, has been empty since closing in 2006 – one of a number of Catholic churches in the District to close that year.
In 2019 a planning application to flatten the building and build 14 houses on the site was submitted by Pinnacle View Homes.
20 more units can be built at Crossflatts industrial estate
Last year these plans were amended, with just 12 homes then proposed.
But this month the application has been withdrawn by the developers.
No details have been given on why the plans were pulled – but Companies House lists Pinnacle View Homes has having been dissolved as a company last year.
