A FOOTBALL club is to increase its police presence on matchdays following a series of incidents.

Guiseley AFC, who play their home games at Nethermoor, will also increase stewarding and ensure under 18s can only buy their ticket in advance.

The incidents have occurred in and around the George Stocks Stand during recent matches.

A statement from the club read: "We are in conversation with West Yorkshire Police who will be increasing their presence in and around the ground at home matches. Their staff will be in plain clothes.

"Additional security staff will be employed for future home matches.

"All unaccompanied Under 18 tickets must be purchased in advance.

"There will be no “pay on the day” gate admission for unaccompanied U18s.

"The George Stocks Stand will only be open to those aged over 18 and U18s if accompanied by an adult, who remains with them throughout the game.

"We will be monitoring the impact of these actions over the coming weeks.

"We deplore the actions of some spectators who have attended recent matches and caused trouble, we ask for your support in helping to identify the perpetrators either in person or via phone footage."
