SBG Bradford/Team Fulinkazan moves out of Bradford city centre

SBG Bradford/Team Fulinkazan now runs out of Planet Fitness in Coral Mills on Halifax Road.

Despite the move from Sunbridge Road, which was fully completed on Tuesday, January 10, it is business as usual for the club in 2023.

It continues to offer weekly classes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kudo and Combat Martial Arts.

Head coach Mark Spencer - who is a former professional MMA fighter and also holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Kickboxing - said: “We are delighted to be now running our classes at Planet Fitness.

"The new venue has great facilities and is easily accessible.

“We hope this new location will create more opportunities for people to enjoy our classes.”

The club is part of the SBG Group who have produced a number of athletes in the UFC - Ultimate Fighting Championship - including famous Irish fighter Conor McGregor.

Mark and his wife Marie - who is also an experienced MMA and BJJ competitor and has represented England in international tournaments - took the decision to add the new art Kudo to their timetable in 2021.

Kudo originates in Japan and combines techniques from Judo and Karate (both currently featuring in the Olympics).

It is a full-contact combat sport created with safety and practicality in mind.

Kudo has more than 100 locations in Japan and is practised in more than 50 countries around the world.

It is a mixed Budo sport comprising full contact punches, kicks, throws, and submission techniques on the ground.

The classes have proved to be very popular and Mark recently achieved the rank of brown belt in Kudo, and won a Bronze medal in a major European tournament.

Several other members of the gym have also progressed well in art and achieved higher grades.

Mark added: “Since we introduced Kudo to our timetable, the classes have gone from strength to strength.

"The sport is mixed martial arts in the truest sense and is a great option for anyone and everyone looking to learn practical self-defence in a progressive, safe and enjoyable manner.”

SBG Bradford/Team Fulinkazan classes at Planet Fitness are on Tuesday and Thursday, starting at 5pm.
