TWO men have been sentenced after an incident at a Bradford city centre hotel. 

There was a huge police response at the Midland Hotel, Cheapside, on the afternoon of October 14 last year.

Police arrested two men on suspicion of a public order offence.

Azram Majeed, 33, of no fixed address, faced one charge of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.

According to court documents, Majeed damaged a wall and TV set at the hotel on October 14.

He was handed a community order which included a rehabilitation activity requirement.

Majeed was also ordered to pay £200 compensation, a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs for the offence.

The court applied for deductions from Majeed’s benefits at his sentencing hearing.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on December 14 last year.

Meanwhile, Haroon Shah, 27, of Hollings Road, Bradford, faced a charge of possession of a controlled drug of class B – cannabis/cannabis resin.

Shah was found in possession of a quantity of cannabis at the Midland Hotel, Bradford, on October 14 last year.

He was fined £80, ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge for the offence.

The court ordered the cannabis be forfeited and destroyed.

Shah pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on January 4.

A charge of criminal damage at the hotel on October 14 was dismissed with no evidence offered.

At the time of the incident last October, a West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 12.27pm to a hotel on Cheapside, Bradford to reports two men had locked themselves in a hotel room and refused to leave.”
