BRADFORD College is taking bookings for a dedicated A Level open night taking place this month.

The event - on Thursday, January 26, from 5-7pm - will showcase A Level courses tailored to Science, Health and Social Science pathways.

Taught in the College’s specialist Advanced Technology Centre (ATC), the A Level pathways are suited to individual interests.

For example, students opting for the Science Pathway study A Level Biology, Chemistry, and Maths for careers such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Teaching and Dentistry.

Bradford College offers STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) specialist A Level provision.

Last year, 95per cent of all Bradford College A Level students achieved university offers or continued into Higher Education at the College, with the other five per cent moving into further training or employment.

A Level students accepted unconditional places to study at institutions including the University of Hull, University of York, and University of Leeds. Other students used their A Level results to achieve long-held ambitions of working in the Police force and the NHS.

Taking place at the College’s Great Horton Road campus, the open day will help students considering applying for A Levels starting in September. Tutors will be on hand to discuss courses, subjects, progression routes, and how to turn a passion into a profession.

Students can explore state-of-the-art facilities and learn about other services, including careers advice, learning support, progress coaches, and work placements.

A Level students benefit from university visits and career events alongside masterclasses with businesses specialists and industry experts.

On Saturday, March 11 from 10am to 2pm, Bradford College will host the next general open day, focussing on all other courses including apprenticeships, degrees, and adult and community part-time courses.

Book your place at the A Level Open Night via the Bradford College website and avoid queues on the night.

BRADFORD College is celebrating after winning the Yorkshire Colleges Badminton Championships.

The team fought off fierce competition from reigning champions in the quarter-finals and Greenhead College in the semi-final. Saqib Ali took Bradford College to victory in the final against Wyke College, Hull.

Yorkshire colleges are competing to represent the county in the National Championships, at Nottingham University in April. In 2019, Bradford qualified for the first time, only for the pandemic to halt events. Farook Khan, Bradford College Sport Lecturer and Racket Sports Coach, said: “Having it cancelled in 2020 was a bitter blow, but qualifying again, I'm really proud of the players who turned up for badminton enrichment sessions to improve their skills. The real hard work starts now as we work towards competing against other counties in April.”
