BRADFORD is braced for its first cold snap of the new year with the district set for snow.

The district is predicted to see plummeting temperatures over the next few days ahead of a cold snap from this Sunday onwards, according to the Met Office.

A largely dry and sunny day in Bradford today will see temperatures reach a high of 11C. But after today the mercury will start to fall, only reaching a maximum of 7C in Bradford tomorrow (Friday).

Bradford can expect a largely wet weekend with temperatures reaching a high of 9C on Saturday and only 5C the following day.

This is before temperatures fall even further next Monday and Tuesday with highs of 3C on both days, which will be dry and sunny. The mercury will plunge to -2C next Monday night.

Light snow is forecast for Bradford next Tuesday (January 17) according to the Met Office. This will arrive by 9am and last for large parts of the day, mixed with sunny spells.

Meanwhile, one area of the district is set to get snow showers later this week.

Queensbury can expect brief light snow showers on Sunday this week at 3pm, according to the Met Office. This will be followed by light snow showers between midnight and 6am next Monday.
