A PROMINENT Bradford building, which used to be the headquarters for Sovereign Health Care, has gone up for sale.
Known as Royal Standard House, on Manningham Lane close to the junction of Hamm Strasse, the building is available due to the firm’s relocation to Saltaire towards the end of last year.
The grand three-storey building is listed for sale, at a price available on application, through Eddisons, and is described as a “prominent iconic office building with excellent parking”.
It provides just over 750 sq m of space on the edge of the city centre, in a detached modern office block having been built in 1995.
The building itself is steel framed with stone cladding and a pitched slate roof, and includes a Victorian-style bell tower.
Internally there is a passenger lift, with raised floors, suspended ceilings, air conditioning and LED lighting.
There is also a large car park with 35 spaces.
Eddisons describes the building as suitable for a variety of uses and that it has further development potential.
The sale follows Sovereign Health Care relocating to a new head office in Saltaire at the end of October.
In an announcement ahead of the move, the health insurance firm said it was making the move to a new, purpose-designed office to accommodate “changes in both flexible working patterns and health and wellbeing requirements” post Covid-19.
As part of the move the firm decided to permanently close its counter service, which had already seen a drop off in demand from customers, meaning premiums can no longer be paid by cash.
A Sovereign Health Care spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus: “We are in the process of selling our former head office building on Manningham Lane in Bradford after successfully completing a relocation to a new purpose-built office space near Saltaire.
"In light of changes in flexible working patterns post-Covid, we needed to change the layout and capabilities of our offices.
"To make changes to the Manningham Lane building would have been extremely costly due to the building design and would not allow us to achieve the outcomes we needed, hence the decision to move to a more suitable space.
"The new office space enables us to provide the necessary technology, layout and space to support hybrid working for our employees, supporting our current business needs while at the same time investing in our future.”
