A POPULAR shop, which has stood for around 35 years, is set to close due to "unforeseen circumstances" later this week.

Poppyfields Florist, on High Street in Gargrave, near Skipton, has been forced to move their business solely online.

The shop will host a 50 per cent off sale on its final days of opening - Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

A statement on the business's Facebook page said: "This week will be my final week of Poppyfields being on the high street.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, the shop will be closing.

"All possible options have been thoroughly thought out and explored.

"Do not worry I am not closing down the florist business.

"However, I will be moving my whole business online for 2024 and setting up a studio premise in which I will carry out all of my creative floristry work."

It added: "This week, I will be opening the shop for the last time on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and holding a huge final clearance stock sale, with at least a 50 per cent off discount or more.

"Stock such as plants, cards, Christmas, candles, vases, faux flowers, pots and much more. Opening times on these three days will be 10am-2pm and cash only.

"I am excited to be making the transition to online in 2023 and hope to be fully up and running by next year.

"I will be creating and working on a big brand new website and moving the whole shop online.

"The website will be easy to browse and purchase from, so you will be able to order online from the comfort of your own home and receive orders straight to your door.

"The services that I will provide will be the exact same as when I was running the shop. Fresh flowers, plants, weddings, etc with the same top-quality flowers and service.

It ended by saying: "I would like to sincerely thank all of the customers who have visited or purchased from our shop.

"Poppyfields has been in business for around 35 years and was created by my mum Helen. I took over the business just over four years ago and I have managed to turn it around to one of the best in the area. I couldn’t have done that without your trust and support.

"I look forward to progressing and moving further forward with floristry and Poppyfields.

"Thank you so much, Bethany."
