Drivers heading onto the M62 should expect severe delays and long queues this morning.

Motorists are moving at around 15mph on the M62 Eastbound between Junction 24 A629 (Ainley Top) and Junction 27 of the M621 (Gildersome).

It is creating delays of 15 minutes, according to The AA’s live traffic updates, and queuing southbound on the M606.

It comes as emergency services deal with a crash on the M606, between the turn-off for the Euroway Trading Estate and the Staygate Roundabout.

Queues of traffic are building up around the Chain Bar roundabout as drivers enter the motorway.

Elsewhere, one lane has been closed due to major construction works on the M62 both ways between Junction 26 M606 J1 (Chain Bar) and Junction 27 M621 (Gildersome).

The T&A’s traffic partner INRIX says: “Long delays and queueing traffic on M62 Eastbound at J26 M606 J1 (Chain Bar). In the roadworks area.

“Travel time is around 30 minutes.

“Traffic is also queueing southbound on the M606 from J2 and along the A58 Whitehall Road towards Scholes.”
